Radioisotopes Events, Training, & Resources
For All Colleges and Locations
Required Training
University Park and the Commonwealth Campuses
Penn State’s Radiation Safety Policy and the University Isotopes Committee require all users of radioactive material, and supervisors of radioactive material laboratories, to complete Radionuclide Safety Training prior to beginning work with radioactive material. The goal is to provide you with the information you need to work safely with radioactive material.
This training is provided by Environmental Health and Safety. Instructions for completing the required training are available at the EHS link below.
College of Medicine
All users of radioisotopes or radio-labeled compounds or specimens must complete Safe Handling of Radioactive Material Training prior to beginning work with radioactive material. Additional, specific radiation safety training is required for users of irradiators, x-ray sources, or lasers.
Instructions for completing the required training are available at the link below.
Optional Training
CATS Safety Submission Training via Zoom
Optional Zoom trainings are intended to help researchers prepare to submit their protocols to the appropriate research compliance program. We also offer more in-depth training on specific topics. Please note: If a training offers SARI credit, it will be noted in the training description in the sign-up form.
Please see the Education Workshops and Events page for more educational offerings. These trainings are applicable to researchers across the University, including Penn State Health and the College of Medicine.
