Single IRB (sIRB) Training

Description: 

This 30-minute presentation provides a high-level overview of the Single IRB process. "Single IRB" in this case refers to the process and requirements for multi-site research studies (that is, a study on which multiple institutions are collaborating) to use a Single IRB of record. This process involves authorization agreements and a different workflow than IRB submissions where Penn State is the only engaged institution.

This training is geared toward first time Single IRB users; it covers when and how to use the Single IRB as well as best practices and general tips. The training provides 15 minutes of instruction followed by 15 minutes with a Single IRB expert. If you are new to the IRB but do not require an authorization agreement, please attend our "Getting to Know the IRB" training session.

This training does NOT count toward SARI credit.

Registration:

To register in Penn State's Learning Resource Network (LRN):

1. Click the LRN Registration Link.
2. Click Request.

Attempting to log in to the LRN using a browser where you are already logged in to a Penn State Health website or system will result in an error message. Use the following instructions to register:

1. • Chrome: select the Menu (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner and select New Incognito Window.
   • Microsoft Edge: select the More Actions menu (three dots) in the upper right and choose New InPrivate Window.
   • Firefox: select the Menu (three vertical lines) in the upper right corner and select New Private Window. Open an incognito window in your current browser.
2. Copy the LRN registration link from the Registration Link section above. 
3. Paste the link in the incognito browser's address bar. 
4. Log in with your Penn State email address (abc123@psu.edu) and password, not your Penn State Health credentials.
