About OSP

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) facilitates proposal submission, award review, contract negotiation, and subaward issuance. OSP ensures contract terms and conditions:

  • Protect the interests of Penn State faculty, students, and postdoctoral fellows,
  • Safeguard Penn State’s institutional interests,
  • Align with Penn State’s policies and mission, and
  • Comply with applicable state and federal laws.

After agreements are put in place, OSP coordinates efforts with research administrators across Penn State to ensure that all sponsored funds are administered in accordance with the agreed upon terms and conditions.

Most colleges have a Research Administrator who helps faculty members prepare proposals and administer external funds. The Office of Sponsored Programs oversees the proposal submission process and negotiates contractual terms and conditions of resultant awards. Also learn about other offices involved in Penn State research administration.

Contract offices are also maintained at the College of Medicine and the Applied Research Lab.
