COINS
What is COINS?
COINS is Penn State’s online disclosure system that allows teaching faculty, research faculty, library faculty, clinical faculty, and University Officials to disclose outside professional activities and interests in accordance with U.S. Federal regulations and University policies RP06, AC80, and AD83. COINS also supports prior approval submissions for outside professional activities such as starting a company or engaging in outside teaching during your appointment period. The University encourages engagement in outside professional activities that support the University’s mission. However, disclosure is important in facilitating the identification and management of any conflicts of interests and / or commitment.
Annual Disclosure: You are required to submit a disclosure in COINS at least annually, even if you do not have any outside professional activities and interests to disclose. In addition to the annual requirement, you are required to disclose in the following instances:
- Within 30 days of starting a new outside professional activity or acquiring a new financial interest, in accordance with Penn State policies RP06 and AC80.
- When you are added to a research project for the first time, you will be prompted to update your disclosure profile in accordance with Penn State policy RP06.
