The mission of the Financial Analysis and Compliance Office (FACO) is to ensure the financial integrity and compliance of Penn State’s research portfolio by providing strategic oversight, fostering collaboration across departments, and implementing effective processes to uphold federal, state, and institutional policies. Establish Robust Financial Oversight

Develop and implement systems, processes, and tools to ensure the accurate monitoring and reporting of financial data for sponsored research projects.

Enhance Compliance Standards

Ensure adherence to federal, state, and institutional policies through effective training, audits, and risk assessments.
Proactively address and resolve compliance challenges to maintain the university’s reputation for excellence in research.

Foster Collaboration Across Units

Partner with Research Accounting, Internal Audit, Budget and Finance, and other key departments to streamline processes and improve communication.
Serve as a resource for financial officers and research administrators across the university.

Drive Process Improvement and Efficiency

Leverage data analytics and reporting tools like SIMBA to optimize workflows and enhance decision-making.
Regularly evaluate and refine office procedures to align with best practices and emerging standards.
